Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

To ensure that submissions to the HealthCare Research Journal (HCRJ) meet our standards and facilitate a smooth review process, authors are required to adhere to the following comprehensive manuscript preparation guidelines

Title Page

Include the title of the manuscript and the full names of all authors, including their professional or academic suffixes (e.g., MD, PhD). Provide a brief justification for the inclusion of each author, focusing on their original professional or intellectual contributions. Specify the corresponding author’s contact details and list the institutions from which the work originated. Disclose any financial sponsorships and potential conflicts of interest.

Abstract

Provide an abstract limited to 300 words or 10% of the text length (excluding references), whichever is shorter. Ensure the abstract summarizes the key aspects of the study.

List of Abbreviations

Include a list of abbreviations used two or more times, along with their interpretations, in the order they are used in the text. Common units of measure (e.g., mm, kg, sec) need not be listed.

Measurements and Units

Report all hematological and clinical chemistry measurements in the metric system (SI units). Include alternative or non-SI units in parenthesis.

Manuscript Format

Submit the manuscript preferably in Word (.doc) format (Pdf is also acceptable). Ensure all text is 12 pt. with double-spaced and uses American spellings. Reserve the words “significant” and “non-significant” for statistical contexts. Proofread the manuscript carefully, as authors are responsible for all statements in their work, including changes made by the editor.

Commercial Products

List commercial products in the order they appear in the text, including the trade name, registry symbol, full name of the manufacturer, and the manufacturer’s location (city, state, country).

Manuscript Structure

While traditional sections such as introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, and conclusions are recommended, they are not required. Include any acknowledgments and disclose the use of any copyrighted material with permission.

Clinical Trials

Register clinical trials with a publicly accessible registry (e.g., http://www.clinicaltrials.gov) and provide the registration number and URL. Adhere to the CONSORT statement when reporting randomized controlled trials. Studies designed for other purposes, such as phase 1 trials, are exempt.

References

List references in the order they appear in the text indicated by number. Refer to a past issue of the HCRJ for examples.

Tables and Figures

Number tables and figures in the order they are referenced in the text. Each table should have a brief title and may include a caption. Each figure should have a brief title and may include a legend. Digital line drawings should have a resolution of at least 600 dpi; digital gray-scale or color figures should be at least 200 dpi.

Ethical Considerations

For experiments involving human subjects, indicate whether the procedures were approved by the ethical standards committee on human experimentation. Comply with the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) regarding patient consent for research. Do not use identifying information such as patients’ names, initials, or hospital numbers anywhere in the manuscript. Obtain patient consent for any figures showing recognizable patients.

Language and Style

Manuscripts should be submitted in English, following the style of the American Medical Association (AMA). Consult the AMA Manual of Style, 10th Edition, for detailed guidance.

Review and Editing

All submitted items will be professionally reviewed and edited. Modifications may be requested. If accepted for publication, all authors must submit copyright for the published materials.

Editorial Judgment

The editors have the final decision on whether the material is published in the HealthCare Research Journal.
